Nuo 1993-iųjų metų, kas pusmetį skelbiamame superkompiuterių „Top 500“, Kinijojos Guangzu mieste įsikūrusiame Nacionaliniame superkompiuterių centre dūzgiantis Tianhe–2 vėl pirmoje vietoje.
Kinijojos Guangzu mieste įsikūręs Nacionalinis superkompiuterių centras turi galingiausią pasaulyje superkompiuterį. Nuo praeito superkompiuterių 500-tuko paskelbimo, Kinijoje esančių superkompiuterių skaičius išaugo 20%, o daugiausiai superkompiuterių turinčioje JAV (233 superkompiuteriai) jų sumažėjo 15%.
Kinijoje dabar yra 76 superkompiuteriai (prieš pusmetį buvo 63), tai yra beveik tiek pat kiek sudėjus superkompiuterius esančius Jungtinėje Karalystėje (30), Prancūzijoje (27) ir Vokietijoje (23).
Galingiausias pasaulio superkompiuterį Tianhe–2 (MilkyWay–2) sukūrė NUDT, jame įdiegta 3120000 procesoriaus branduolių, 1024000GB RAM, jis geba atlikti 33,86 kvadrilijonus operacijų per sekundę ir sunaudoja 17808 kW elektros energijos. Jame „sukasi“ Kylin Linux operacinė sistema.
